Basic Lentils

1  Cup red or pink lentils

2 teaspoons curry powder
2 TBS chopped fresh ginger
(optional)
6 cups water 1 cup dry pink or red lentils
2 teaspoons turmeric powder

Wash and pick over lentils

Put lentils in pot with 6 cups water, bring to a boil
simmer for 25 minutes, or longer until lentils are cooked (to soft not chewy consistency)

Mash lentils and add other toppings to taste (e.g garlic slices, raw or cooked, or cooked onion)
